A 12-year-old boy died after being attacked by lions in a cage at the Otavi Lion Park near Parys on Thursday morning in Cape Town
According to the information reaching News24 from Otavi manager Ina Human, an employee had stolen the set of keys for the cage and had entered the enclosure together with the boy, who is the nephew of another staff member.
‘No reason for him to enter there and besides when the lion attacked the boy, he ran away living the boy behind around 09:00 when it happened’
The child was rescued from the lion and was rushed to hospital. He died before they arrived.
Human said the little victim was an orphan and lived with his uncle who works at the park.
