The commission’s national commissioner in charge of voter education and publicity, Prince Solomon Adedeji Soyebi, said that INEC has decided not to postpone Edo state election with four good reasons.
The reasons Soyebi gave are:
1. 97 per cent readiness
“….the Commission had reached not less than ninety seven per cent level of preparation for the conduct of the election. “Except the actual conduct of the election…the Commission had scrupulously implemented all the items listed in the Timetable And Schedule of Activities for Edo governorship election which it issued in March this year.
2. Endangering Democracy
3. Waste of resources
“…the Commission robustly considered the implications of demobilizing and arrived at the fact that it was more expensive to do so.”
Though he didn’t explain about the short time, but I think he sees it as the time for Edo election is too short.
